Bahai wedding vows. We will all verily abide by the Will of God Beautiful and simple. Remembrance of God is like the rain and dew which bestow freshness and grace on flowers and hyacinths revive them and cause them to acquire fragrance redolence and renewed charm. Bahs around the world are finding that the principles and laws which give a distinctive shape to Bah.
The true marriage of Bahs is this that husband and wife should be united both physically and spiritually that they may ever improve the spiritual life of each other and may enjoy. This brief compilation gathers together extracts on this subject and includes passages relating to the freedom of individuals to choose a spouse the requirement of receiving the consent of parents prior to marriage the prohibition of adultery and the question of divorce. Divorce may legitimately be sought after the reading of the Marriage Verses and payment of the dowry but before the consummation of the marriage.
Marriage is truly a bounty and a test. It was our first Bahai wedding ceremony and it was so spiritual and beautiful. When the consent of the parents is obtained the only other requirement for the ceremony is the recitation by both parties in the presence of two witnesses of the specifically revealed verse.
A Bahai wedding is equally exciting and definitely requires the bride and the bridegroom to take vows to stay beside each other through thick and thin. Wedding cannot take place without the authorization of the Local Assembly. And chanteth the verses of Oneness in the great assemblies.
Prayers for Relationships and Marriage. - When two Bahs are marrying their wedding ceremony should not be held in the place of worship of another religion nor should the forms of the marriage of other religions be added to the simple Bah. Know thou verily the husband is one who hath sincerely turned unto God is awakened by the call of the Beauty of El-Bah.
The same is true if the bride or groom is not a Bah. According to the tradition these 3 aspects need to be addressed prior to declaring a couple Man and Woman. First of all note that the vow does not say We will both abide by the will of Godand given the Bahai principle of the equality of men and women it certainly does not say I will abide by my husbands willor by my wifes will.
